Check out the ways in which you can be supporting global mission work at NTE19!
Across the Divide
MOBILISE MINISTRY WORKERS IN NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
Northern Australia’s remoteness means it is often less resourced than other parts of Australia. That applies to ministry resources too. The church in Northern Australia has many gospel opportunities but very few equipped, willing people to meet the need.
At NTE19 you can find out about some of the needs of Aboriginal churches, uni ministry in Darwin and some of the particular challenges and joys of life and ministry in the tropics. You can be equipped to pray for Northern Australia. You can investigate the possibility of going, short or long-term.
Give $5 and sign up to log the number of steps you take around NTE - we can all work together to walk from Canberra to Broome! The money raised will help a small group of people to go and visit Chris and Karen Webb in Broome, where they are discipling and training Aboriginal Christian leaders. That group will get to see, taste, touch, smell and hear what life's really like in remote WA. The things they experience first hand will increase prayerful and practical gospel partnership with Aboriginal churches in the Kimberley. There's a free ticket up for grabs, so your virtual hike across the nation could turn into a real-life trip!
400 people give $5 to walk to Broome (log your steps at NTE!) to support a team running a children’s program at the 2020 Kimberley Christian Fellowship Convention
4 students committed to be a part of the Across the Divide mission trip to the Kimberley
150 people committed to praying for ministry in Northern Australia
IFES (INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP OF EVANGELICAL STUDENTS)
ENCOURAGE STUDENT GROUPS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
At NTE, Australian uni students have written letters to other student movements throughout the world, encouraging them to persevere in the gospel and reminding them of the partnership we have together in Jesus. We look forward to encouraging these groups further at NTE19.
GLOBAL RECORDINGS NETWORK
ENABLE THE RECORDING OF THE NEW TESTAMENT IN AN INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE OF MYANMAR
Global Recordings Network (GRN) have made audio recordings of the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke in an indigenous language of Myanmar but the people in Myanmar are hungry for more. Help the GRN team in Myanmar record the rest of the New Testament for this people group. This reality for many people groups around the world is that they have little or no Bible resources in the languages they speak. At NTE19 you can engage with technology developed by Christian mission agencies over the last 80 years to make gospel audio recordings available to people all around the world. Partner with Global Recordings Network (GRN) to record the New Testament in an indigenous language of Myanmar. The New Testament Scriptures have already been translated but many of these people cannot read, so they need Bible recordings in order to hear about Jesus in their own language.
- 300 people give $7 to make recordings of the New Testament in an indigenous language of Myanmar.
- 200 people committed to praying that the people of Myanmar will hear the Scriptures in their own language soon, and give their lives to Jesus.
WYCLIFFE BIBLE TRANSLATORS
AIM TO PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE SCRIPTURE AUDIO PLAYERS TO OAXACA, MEXICO
What if you could not understand the bible in your OWN language? The church has been in Mexico for over 500 years and the national language (Spanish) has the Bible, as have many neighbouring Zapotec languages, but they are only distantly related to the Guevea de Humboldt speaking people. So the 6,000 speakers of Guevea de Humboldt struggle to ENCOUNTER GOD because it is very difficult to HEAR HIS VOICE when the Bible was not in their language! Wycliffe and partner organisations have been engaged in Bible translation of the minority languages in Mexico for many decades. Wycliffe USA members John and Donna Kreutz have been working specifically in Guevea de Humboldt since 1977 and the New Testament is now completely translated! Rural literacy rates are low, so the assistance of audio recordings enables and enhances access to scripture. Head to the Act Now room, do your best to shoot the Word of God (nerf bullet blowgun) into the heart language of the rural Mexican and help bring a scripture audio player to the Guevea de Humboldt speakers of Oaxaca, Mexico.
- 320 people give $5 to shoot the word of God into the heart language of Guevea de Humboldt speakers, which will purchase, record and distribute 40 Megavoice audioplayers in Oaxaca, Mexico.
- 100 people committed to praying for Bible translation in this region
RAISE MONEY TO BUY ESSENTIALS FOR INTERNALLY DISPLACED FAMILIES IN SYRIA
Anglican Aid is a Christian Aid agency caring for vulnerable people throughout the world. Our aim is to excel in the provision of aid, and relief through our gospel partners. Our projects include community development, emergency relief, Biblical leadership and ministry projects.
‘Damascus Church Aid’ is an Anglican Aid project in Syria, supporting refugees and internally displaced persons in Syria, who have been forced to leave their homes during the war. Working with Pastor Samir Yacco and the team at the Evangelical Baptist Church in Damascus, the project gives spiritual and physical support to families who are struggling to rebuild their lives after the war. Unemployment and inflation, as well as strained infrastructure and public services e.g. schools and medical services mean that life is still a struggle for many people.
Since the war the church has grown in number and new believers. Our aim is to raise money to provide 120 grocery and care packs for distribution amongst refugees and internally displaced persons in Syria, as part of the tangible ministry of the church to the community.
- 360 people give $5 to support the distribution of 120 care packs to refugees and internally displaced persons in Damascus, Syria
- 100 people subscribing to regular newsletters
- 100 people following Anglican Aid Facebook and Instagram accounts
