Frequently Asked Questions

These are the bread and butter of our time at NTE! Spanning most of the day, you will be grouped up with other students at a similar stage to learn how to read God’s word and how to teach God’s word.

Electives allow you to learn and explore more about topics within local and global mission. With a choice to choose from, you get to hear from missionaries, ministry workers and organisations who have a rich repertoire and experience in different areas of mission. Electives help set our eyes towards living out and sharing the gospel on campus, as well as shaping a mission mindset beyond university.

While we serve faithfully on campus, we also have the opportunity to serve alongside our global mission partners. Each year, we seek to support them: through prayer, financial giving and forms of encouragement.

At NTE we have an ACT NOW space to learn more and support the various projects we have going on with our global mission partners. ACT NOW helps set our eyes to God’s wider mission for all nations to know His name and began the practical step towards global mission.

Visit the expo space for opportunities to meet workers from other ministries including theological colleges, bible translators, missionary organisations and more! Find out more about these ministries and see how God could be using you in these areas for the future and now.

Also be sure to also visit the bookstall where there will be plenty of books for you to consider reading that may be beneficial for your growth in reading and teaching God’s word.

FOCUS is AFES’s ministry to international students. Most people communicate and understand best in their own native-language, but for many of these students, English is their 2nd, 3rd or 4th language. So, in line with the Bible’s principles of ministering to people in ways that are intelligible (1 Cor 14) and with cross-cultural sensitivity (1 Cor 9), we run FOCUS-specific talks, seminars, and electives in simple English or other languages, tailored to their cultural backgrounds. This also helps prepare students to share God’s word with others from their own national groups, both back home or elsewhere.

Get excited for a large, all-in session together each day! There will be singing, praying, stories from on campus, a bible talk, and we will also have the chance to hear from some of the international movements that AFES partners with!

You will also be spending a significant amount of time in strand groups. Learn more from our strands page.

Yes! We also highly recommend joining an existing Christian group on campus if you haven’t already. (Find a group here)

If there isn’t a group on your campus, you might like to explore the next nearest campus group and get in contact with them to see the possibilities of your involvement there.

At NTE, we seek to care and look after everyone as best as we can. We strongly advise talking with your campus group staff first about your needs as they will primarily be looking after you during NTE.

If you have further questions or enquiries please contact us or inform a campus staff worker to do so on your behalf, so we can do our best to meet your needs.

We strong advise you attend the full length of the NTE.

Unfortunately there is no discount or price variance for a part-time rego.

What happens at NTE?

These were the rego changes/cancellation policies for NTE2026:

To cancel your rego, please email [email protected] with your details and we will refund your payment less a $50 administration fee. There are no cancellation refunds available after Wed 11 November 2026.

To transfer your rego, please find someone who’d like to attend the NTE and they can purchase your registration from you. You can request a transfer of your registration by emailing [email protected] with your details and the details of the person taking your registration. There is no fee for transferring your registration to another person, provided they have the same gender and accommodation as originally chosen. There are no transfers possible or accommodation changes after Wed 18 November 2026.

We are unable to do cancellations, changes and transfers after the dates listed above as details will have already been confirmed and vendors will have been booked by then. Please talk to the staff worker on your campus if you have any queries or concerns.

At NTE we ask you to:

Sanitise your hands regularly including before meals and main sessions
Wear a mask if you would like to, in main sessions or elsewhere
If you have Covid or flu-like symptoms:
– care for yourself, including seeking medical help as appropriate – including from NTE First Aid Officers.
– inform your Campus Staff for support.
– do not attend NTE sessions, meetings or meals.
– arrange for your travel home, as appropriate.
During NTE AFES will:

remind everyone of good health practices (including the option of wearing masks for main sessions),
ensure high-touch surfaces are regularly sanitised.
AFES does not provide medical advice, treatment or transport home.

At NTE, there will be people around taking photos. Photos may be used on social media and for future NTE promotions. By registering and attending the conference you are agreeing to allow us to use your image in promotional materials. Please email us at [email protected], if you do not wish to be photographed or appear in any of our promotional/social media materials. You can always inform the photographer on the day that you do not wish to be photographed. We do our best in abiding with ethical photography & filming.
