NTE2026: Hearing God’s Voice

Conference

Gather with uni students from across Australia at NTE2026!

In a world full of noise and competing claims, spend time hearing from the Bible and seeing how God speaks clearly, confidently, and graciously today. Through main sessions, strand groups, electives, and shared life, at NTE you’ll be transformed by the gospel, trained in the gospel, and sent with the gospel back to your campus.

As Kevin DeYoung and Pete Sorrenson open the Scriptures with us, you’ll grow in trust in God’s Word and confidence to listen, live, and speak as followers of Jesus.

NTE (the National Training Event) is AFES’s annual national conference. It’s a time when uni students and grads from campus groups across Australia gather together to learn under God’s Word—through Bible teaching, strand groups, electives, prayer, music, and shared life.

NTE is for university students and recent graduates who are part of (or exploring) an AFES campus group. Whether you’re new to uni, new to Jesus, or have been leading for years, NTE is designed to help you grow in trusting, reading, and living out God’s Word.

Each day at NTE brings a full and shared rhythm of learning and life together. You’ll gather with the whole conference in main sessions to hear Bible teaching and to sing and pray side by side with students from across the country. Much of your time will be spent in strand groups—the core learning space at NTE—where you’ll train in reading and teaching the Bible alongside others at a similar stage. You’ll also choose electives that explore mission, ministry, ethics, and gospel work on campus and beyond, with plenty of space woven through the week to connect, rest, have fun, and build lasting friendships.

Strands are the “engine room” of NTE. You’ll be placed in a small group based on your experience and stage, and spend significant time learning how to read God’s Word carefully and teach it clearly. Strands are practical, interactive, and designed to equip you for gospel ministry now and into the future.

Not at all. NTE includes strands for first‑timers and those new to reading the Bible, as well as more advanced strands for students with leadership or teaching experience. There’s a place for you, wherever you’re at.

NTE is about being transformed by the gospel, trained in the gospel, and sent with the gospel. It’s a chance to step out of the busyness of semester, sit under God’s Word, sharpen your convictions, and return to campus encouraged, equipped, and ready to serve Jesus.

The main Bible talks at NTE2026 will be given by Kevin DeYoung and Pete Sorrenson, opening God’s Word with clarity, conviction, and care as we explore the theme Hearing God’s Voice.

You can register for NTE online through the NTE website. Registrations usually open mid‑year, around July or August, with early‑bird pricing available for a limited time. When you register, you’ll choose your accommodation option, submit strand preferences, and select electives. Your AFES campus group will also be able to help you with timing, travel plans, and any questions along the way.

Chat with your campus AFES staff worker or student leaders, or check out the rest of the NTE website for what to expect.
