This year is special. Students and staff from across the nation will spend time discussing the future direction of AFES and together develop a vision for the next phase of ministry on university campuses.
Come and be a part of this critical moment in AFES’s history!
What is SCTC?
The Student Committees Training Conference is a two-day conference that brings together student leaders from around the country to energize and equip you to lead your group in proclaiming Jesus on your campus.
It will be a fantastic opportunity to meet other student leaders from across Australia, share ideas, and be trained for service and leadership, so that together we can see the cause of Christ advanced on our campuses in the coming year.
This year our focus will be on creating and implementing vision.
Program Overview
This year we’re doing things a little differently at SCTC.
With the appointment of our new National Director, Pete Sorrenson, AFES has begun creating a new vision for the movement and hopes, under God, to launch it nationally at NTE2027. As a student-led movement, no vision would be complete without real and extensive input from you, our student leaders. The best place to do this is the one time of the year where you’re all gathered together: Student Committees Training Conference!
We’ll spend the majority of our time helping create the new AFES vision. This will involve:
- Meeting with your campus staff to consider the needs and implications of an AFES vision for your particular campus/context.
- Meeting together with AFES staff to explore the possible future directions for the movement
- Dedicated sessions just for you, our student leaders, to discuss, plan and pray without the complicating presence of staff
Alongside participation in the vision process, we will be training you to understand the place of vision in Christian ministry and explore the practical ways it can be implemented. This will equip you to lead your group with greater clarity and effectiveness in the coming year (as well as give you a key tool to add to your ministry leadership toolbox).

SCTC was a wonderful opportunity to spend as student leaders focusing in on God and rooted ourselves in Him before we embark upon the next year of ministry. It was a helpful time both to grow myself and as our committee, fixing our eyes on Jesus.

SCTC is a great way of meeting likeminded Christian leaders and be given the tools to lead well.
