Canberra Bible Talks

ABOUT CANBERRA BIBLE TALKS

If you're a resident of the Canberra region we'd love you to join us for the Canberra Bible Talks - the four evening sessions of AFES' National Training Event (NTE). In these sessions you will join around 1700 university students, staff and guests from around Australia to engage with God through his word, sing his praises and hear about the growth of his kingdom throughout the world.

MEET THE SPEAKER

GARY MILLAR

Gary Millar is the Principal of Queensland Theological College in Brisbane and Chair of the Council of the Gospel Coalition Australia. Gary (from Northern Ireland) is married to Fiona (a Scot born in Peru) and they have three daughters (born in Dublin but talk like Aussies). He preaches every week at College Chapel, teaches Old Testament, Biblical Theology, Ministry in Practice and Preaching. He has a PhD (Deuteronomy), and has written on Deuteronomy, 1 & 2 Kings, Preaching and Prayer. His time in Christian Unions in the UK and Ireland shaped his life, and he is a passionate supporter of uni ministry.
At NTE, Gary will be working through how the gospel should shape the way in which we live in our often challenging world. What does the God who has rescued us through Jesus ask of us? What does it feel like and look like living for him? What can we realistically expect now and in the future as followers of the Lord Jesus? Should we fit in to our world or stand out? Should we expect to influence the world or prepare ourselves to be crushed by it? These are the questions we’ll be working through, as we explore the Gospel-Shaped life.
